Through a multi-disciplined, Randy weaves a photographic sensibility into his designs, building on the expansive interplay between image and type.
Randy joins Tolleson Design after a long-term stint as Art Director for fashion accessories brand The Sak, where he oversaw brand strategy, creative direction and photography for the company while initiating several affiliate brands. Prior to The Sak, Randy served as designer and photographer at Oh Boy, A Design Company. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Print, AIGA, The West Coast Show, and The San Francisco Show. Randy is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Designer by day, curator and sound artist by night, Randy leads the non-profit organization 23five Inc., a sonic arts advocacy group founded in 1993. For over a decade, Randy has curated sonic arts festivals throughout California and has produced over 50 records from an international cast of sound artists.
In his free time, he enjoys an international variety of gastronomy, literature, music and film with his wife.

 | Creative Director
More than 20 years after founding Tolleson Design, Steve Tolleson remains actively involved in day-to-day design strategy, art direction and studio management. His drive for design excellence, collaborative attitude and even-keeled temperament set the tone at Tolleson Design.
In order to continually challenge himself and his veteran team, Steve takes on a diverse mix of work from companies large and small across widely varied industries. As a result, Tolleson Design offers a breadth of experience uncommon for a studio of its size.
In 1999, Princeton Architectural Press published a monograph on the Tolleson studio titled Soak, Wash, Rinse, Spin which chronicles the studio’s unique problem-solving methodology and exceptional creative work.

 | Interactive Design Director
Bill has been an integral member of the Tolleson creative team for the past eleven years, bringing practical perspectives to design innovation. Bill now devotes his talents honed in print design to the evolving and exciting world of digital media, where he has been an integral force in guiding the Tolleson studio.
His past work for Adobe, Cisco, Mattel, Nike and many others exhibits his ability to design effective solutions across a wide range of media. His projects have won several awards and been chosen for the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Bill holds two degrees – a BS in Business from St. Mary's College and a BFA in Design from CCA. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and young son.

John previously worked at Tolleson from 1998 through 2004, designing for clients including AOL, Adobe, Chronicle Books, Nike, Shiseido, and Mattel. His work has received awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the British Design Annual, Communication Arts and the Type Directors Club (New York).
During the ensuing years, John assumed the role of Art Director in the Graphic Design Group at Apple Computer, Inc. where he was responsible for window displays, fixtures and graphics for Apple's retail stores worldwide.
John is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Systematic by nature, his design is meticulous with an attention to detail and organization.
He is fond of public transportation and enjoys commuting from his home in San Francisco which he shares with his bright and beautiful daughter and their two cats.

Jamie balances mathematical precision and emotional expressiveness in design.
During his five year tenure at Tolleson, Jamie has created unmistakable imagery for Adobe Systems, Gmund and Applied Materials. He has also designed signature letterforms and information graphics for ClickStar, Clarium and Nike.
Jamie is the recipient of a Red Dot communication design award. His work has also been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum, and shows in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Smithsonian.
A graduate of the San Francisco Academy of Art, Jamie's professional experience includes working for several years in identity design at Landor Associates.

Craig brings an uncanny sense of humor, a wide-ranging knowledge of pop culture and an exquisite eye for detail to his design practice.
His fluency in digital illustration and typography has defined some of the studio's most beautiful print projects, including several seasons of Barbie Style Guides, Gmund paper promotions and an energetic music video volume that made use of over 75 different fonts. His work has been recognized by I.D. Magazine, Graphis, AIGA, Communication Arts, the Type Directors Club, the British Design & Art Directors Club, and is a part of the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
A veteran of several Coachella music festivals, Craig plays guitar, silkscreens art posters and is the proud owner of twin orange tabbies, Dude and Awesome.
Craig joined Tolleson Design after working in the studios of April Grieman, Cahan & Associates, Frankfurt Gips Balkind and Drenttel Doyle Partners, where his clients included Oracle, CBS, The Gap and Martha Stewart. He graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Trained in Landscape Architecture, Eric's style exhibits a heightened awareness of place, material and human interaction in design. Whether working in print or on a website, his designs remain approachable even when exhibiting a racy, urban edge.
Behind the scenes, if someone at TD needs help buying a gift, Eric instantly points the way to the perfect hand-sculpted Suzuki singing bird or Sarah Cihat rehabilitated dishware. Eric can also be found tramping the trails of Yosemite and Mount Tam with his wife and two energetic boy toddlers.
Eric moved to Tolleson Design after long-term stints at Pentagram and Three 8 Creative Group, where his clients included Levi's, Microsoft, Ofoto and Target . He holds a BFA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois and a BFA in graphic design from San Francisco's Academy of Art.

 | Senior Designer
Molly brings a scientific perspective to design. Her approach combines rigorous investigative discipline with an ardent pursuit of the new and undiscovered.
Molly joined Tolleson one year after graduation and soon demonstrated an uncommonly mature ability to produce top quality work in a demanding studio environment. Her richly detailed digital illustrations, intelligent compositions and precise typography have elevated communication systems for a wide range of TD clients including Liz Claiborne, Adobe, Brandrud, AOL, Maverick, Godiva and Gmund.
Aside from pushing pixels, Molly is a founding member of a local inventors club. She also plays basketball and cultivates a cactus collection.
Prior to Tolleson, Molly worked at Mende Design and interned at Alterpop. She received a BFA with honors in design from CCA after completing a BS in environmental biology, also with honors, at Humbolt State University.

The newest addition to the Tolleson team, Boramee is a graduate of the San Francisco Academy of Art, where she received top honors for her BFA portfolio.
Prior to joining Tolleson, she gained experience as an intern at Chen Design Associates and Ashton Abeck.
Boramee's work at Tolleson includes design for Genentech, Chronicle Books, LucasFilm and Applied Materials.
A native of Seoul, Korea, Boramee is a culinary adventurer who enjoys dining out in San Francisco and tasting unusual dishes.

Charin coordinates communication to the design team, tracks budgets, schedules and invoices and juggles the many other diverse tasks involved with providing top flight client service.
She joined Tolleson Design as project manager after holding a similar position at Howry Design Associates. She has also worked at CNET Networks and One Media Place in their advertising divisions.
Conversant in French, Japanese and Thai, Charin graduated from Pomona College with a major in Asian studies and a minor in studio art. In her free time she enjoys landscape painting and figure drawing.

Kelly's formula for effective project management is Interesting projects + good design ÷ budget x efficient production = happy people all around.
Kelly brings extensive experience in production management and project management to her position. The mother of two preschoolers, managing toddlers is also a highlight of her resume.
Prior to joining Tolleson, Kelly worked in production and project management at Cahan & Associates.
She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Akron in Ohio, with a minor in Art History.

Christy developed an appreciation for design while working as a receptionist and office manager in a graphics firm to put herself through college. After graduation, she stayed in design, working her way up the ladder to the illustrious role of project manager. Her experience and agility allow her to keep multiple projects in motion, meeting deadlines and budgets with ease.
Before coming to Tolleson, Christy worked as a project manager at Pentagram Design for nearly eight years on print, identity, packaging and branding projects. Now a Northern California transplant, she worked many years at Jensen Design Associates in Long Beach before the Southern California sun became too much.
Outside the studio, Christy spends time with her two lovely felines and does live music performances with her boyfriend.

 | Business Development / Marketing
Holly shepherds new business with an informed understanding of individual businesses. She cultivates a working relationship with her clients through extensive research, attentive listening and the offering of achievable goals. This combination of skillful discovery and communication skills naturally extends to the development of strategic content for proposals outlining the benefits of working with the Tolleson studio. In her capacity as liaison, she continues to work as advocate for the client throughout the creative process.
Holly relaxes by tending the garden at her Tiburon home. She and her husband also enjoy single scull rowing on the bay.
Before moving into biz dev, Holly spent ten years at TD in project management. Her prior professional experience includes working as a graphic designer and art director in corporate marketing for clients such as Autodesk, Bechtel, The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and MacWorld. She is a graduate of CCA's design program, and also holds a BA in Art History and an MA in Library Science from the University of Oregon.

 | Business Development / Strategist
Said’s passion is to engage potential clients in the practice of design. He identifies clients that are the right fit for Tolleson Design, ascertains their organizational needs around business and brand strategy and works to kick off the project team once a contract is signed.
He is an active member of the American Institute for Graphic Arts, where he organizes a lecture series and gives presentations on business and creativity.
Said has held management positions with Chiat Day's brand agency Bright and Associates, Lippincott and Margolis, Designery/Pinkhaus, and Viant. He studied business at UCLA and painting at Otis Art Institute.
In his free time he explores an enduring interest in mysticism, which influences his fine art work in painting and digital collage. He is married and the father of two college age sons and three daughters.

 | Senior Production Manager
Rene brings an artistic eye and a meticulous process to asset management, mechanical preparation and production coordination. Rene facilitates communication with manufacturing vendors throughout the production process to ensure that the studio's print work is produced at a uniformly high quality.
When she is not setting up style sheets and correcting color proofs, Rene can be found cultivating her garden of flowering perennials and exotic succulents. She is also a figurative painter, currently exploring Old Master techniques.
Prior to joining Tolleson, Rene worked in production at Cronan Design, Frazier Design, Deutsch Design Works and Howry Design Associates. She holds degrees from UC Davis in Political Science and Fine Arts, and studied design and production at CCA.

 | Controller / Human Resources
Mary is responsible for day-to-day human resources and financial operations at the studio, including payroll, benefits, accounts payable and receivables, She keeps the cash flowing, delivers our paychecks, and makes sure we stay out of trouble with the Franchise Tax Board,
A Californian by way of New Mexico, Tennessee and a few other stops along the road, Mary is a frequent traveler who lives by the motto "always have a plane ticket in your drawer."
A fifteen year Tolleson veteran, Mary has also worked as a teacher, a school psychologist and in educational media sales. She holds a Masters in Educational Counseling from the University of Missouri and a Masters in Exercise Science from San Francisco State University.

 | Studio Manager
Stephanie is our resident gatekeeper, party planner and all around office organizer.
When a designer needs to find a rare Japanese swatchbook, a project manager must send an overnight package to Taipei, or Steve wants to locate a contractor to refinish the conference room floor, Stephanie is able to get the job done. Stephanie ensures our studio equipment operates to its highest capacity, arranges our travel and entertainment, and dispenses packets of Vitamin C at the sound of a sneeze.
Stephanie is also an avid reader, published poet and designs her own knit patterns.
Before joining Tolleson in 2004 Stephanie worked as an archivist in Sam Francis' Litho Shop, a visitor services representative at the Chicago Institute of Art, and as an assistant to art photographer Gene Ogami.She holds an MA in Painting & Drawing from CSU Fullerton.
